TV Comedian Lazopoulos Slammed Over Disability Comment

TV comedian Lazopoulos slammed over disability comment 01The National Confederation of Disabled People (NCDP) on Wednesday criticized TV comedian Lakis Lazopoulos over comments about German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble that were seen as offensive to persons with disabilities.

During a verbal attack on Schaeuble, often portrayed as the mastermind of Greece’s austerity program, during his popular show Al Tsantiri late Tuesday, Lazopoulos said: “The longer a person is stuck in a chair, the mοre his mind gets stuck on an idea.”

The remark sparked an outpouring of anger on Greek social media.

Speaking on Vima FM on Wednesday, NCDP chairman Ioannis Vardakastanis said Lazopoulos should apologize over the comment.

“According to Lazopoulos, Stephen Hawking should spend his time in a closed care home, ‘stuck on an idea’,” Vardakastanis said in reference to the famous British physicist who is almost completely paralyzed from ALS.
