New Delhi: Two thieves that entered south Delhi colonies posing as disabled patients seeking alms for treatment were arrested from Sarai kale Khan. The men allegedly stole from a house while the owner had gone to get money for them.Police say that the youths from Telangana were caught earlier but were released since the cops could not interrogate them due to language barrier.
Police say that they received a complaint about how two youths claiming to be deaf and dumb had approached the complainant living in Sainik farms. When he went back inside to get his wallet, the men took his mobile phone, laptop and other valuables and fled.
“A probe was initiated and the men were found to be involved in similar cases earlier and arrested in Gurgaon,” said Chinmoy Biswal, additional DCP (south).
The accused, identified as Yarampally Laksmarayya and V Babu, were found to staying at a rented house in Sarai Kale Khan, where cops also recoverd the stolen goods.
During interrogation, the youths claimed they did not understand Hindi. Fortunately a cop at Neb Sarai police station was from Andhra Pradesh and interrogated them. The two used to target residents in rented homes and showed them fakeprescriptions.
